The AC/127(EWT) chronological series contains the Economic Committee’s records on trade agreements. The first record is a note from France on 28 July 1961. The last record in this series was submitted by the Turkish Delegation on 19 April 1977(1).

Scope and content
The documents in the AC/127 series include reports and studies on economic problems specific to the NATO nations (eg: Greece, Turkey, Iceland), as well as economic studies and critical analyses of the Warsaw Pact nations. They contain information on the oil policy of the USSR, oil and oil product exports by the Soviet Union (1966), the construction of pipelines, the transport of petroleum in the USSR (1974), and data on Soviet energy policy. The AC/127 series also contains information on the balance of payments of the USSR, the Eastern Bloc countries and China (1966). In this series are documents on the production and purchase of wheat by European communist countries and China, and data on the sale of gold by the Soviet Union on the free market (1966-1967). The series also includes documents on the activities of various international organizations (the Economic Commission for Europe, the United Nations, the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, the European Economic Community, etc). There are studies of the economic development of the communist countries and their level of indebtedness (1972) and documents on the activites of communist countries in the Mediterranean (1968) and the economic situation of the southern Mediterranean basin region (1970). The series provides information on credits granted by NATO member nations to Soviet bloc countries, the economic offensive launched by the latter and NATO policy seeking to oppose it (1966 - statistical tables). The documents in the AC/127 series also deal with economic countermeasures in the event of a crisis in Berlin, the economic situation in Czechoslovakia in 1968, and the economic repercussions of the events which took place in that country (1968-1969). Also provided is data on East-West trade, and trade between the USSR and Japan (1969). The series further contains material on preparations for the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (1971-1974).

The documents in the AC/127 series circulated by the Economic Committee are arranged by type - Agenda (A); Document (D), Note (N), Record/Summary Record (R), Working Paper (WP), and then by year and number. However, the year is not mentioned for the agendas from 1957 to 1966, or for the notes published in 1963, 1966 and 1968.

(2) From when it was set up in 1957 until the end of February 1970, AC/127 was known as the "Committee of Economic Advisers" in English. In March 1970 it took the name "Economic Committee", corresponding to the French designation "Comité économique" which had been used since it was formed.
