Content and structure area

Scope and content

The chronological series is divided into two categories.
The SGREPs contain information relating to:

  • administrative issues (organization of meetings, the Liaison Office's annual report, personnel management, budget management and management of classified documentation)
  • military issues (defence planning, exercises, yearly force and infrastructure review)

The SGREP-MISCs report on:

  • negotiations with the USSR regarding nuclear tests
  • defence planning for Berlin
  • NATO nations' defence problems and statements by their representatives

There was no set presentation for the SGREPs. The message or memorandum in question was sometimes attached to the basic document.
The SGREP sometimes refers to a discussion with the recipient.

System of arrangement

Originally, the SGREPS did not have a reference number and were arranged in chronological order. Their handwritten reference, which was added subsequently, contains the acronym, followed by the date of the meeting (e.g. SGREP-160365).
The SGREP-MISCs have a reference (the acronym followed by the date: e.g. SGREP-MISC-4433). They are arranged in chronological order.
